Our Journey Building the World’s First AI Stylist Powered by ChatGPT

Online product discovery is nothing short of a nightmare. Clicking from product to product, wondering what you should buy, overwhelmed by the options but still underwhelmed by the subpar recommendations. After what felt like my millionth attempt at finding a new summer dress, I knew there had to be a better way.

That frustrating experience sparked a lightbulb moment:

Why isn’t there an AI stylist that integrates multiple types of AI, can answer any style question, and can recommend integrated products from retailers?

While this might seem like a hefty question, it’s not a new area for me: I’m the CEO and co-founder of YesPlz AI, a next-generation fashion AI company that makes search and recommendations experiences for fashion retailers.

But, despite the technology existing, product discovery was still siloed, and not utilizing the latest technology like ChatGPT beyond creating chatbots.

What if there could be an AI stylist that could be tailored to each shopper, and deliver curated product recommendations for any prompt? No more wasted searches or generic, boring picks.

And so the vision for ChatGPT Fashion Stylist was born.

The Fast and Nimble Evolution of ChatGPT Fashion Stylist

Bringing the ChatGPT Fashion Stylist to life was far from easy.

But, the key to success? Putting shoppers first. User interviews and testing shaped the ChatGPT Fashion Stylist (and continue to do so).

For example, we learned that shoppers expect ChatGPT Fashion Stylist to function as their fashion stylist, taking into account their body shape, budget, and existing wardrobe.

After several rounds of feedback, we incorporated even more personalization into ChatGPT Fashion Stylist, including:

• Personalized style quizzes to determine specific style preferences
• Searching by price for budget-conscious shoppers
• The ability to “favorite” products, and see a unique, curated closet of products for you based on your favorites

We are tirelessly refining the ChatGPT Fashion Stylist, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to see the initial reception.

Taming the Fashion AI: Our Work In Progress

ChatGPT Fashion Stylist still has some learning to do when it comes to the nuances of fashion.

Like an over-excited student, it can sometimes make mistakes or get off track with its suggestions. We’re dedicated to continuing to iterate so it (and we) can better understand shoppers’ complex needs.

It’s been a process of continuous growth teaching our AI the art and science of fashion. With every training milestone, we get one step closer to providing an even more intuitive, delightful shopping experience.
